Plainfield Park District addresses the needs of young children and their families with a special weeklong program.
Orland Hills, March 15th, 2016: Plainfield Park District is closing its weeklong celebration, Week of the Young Child (WOYC), with the professional balloon show Art of Inflation. The Family Fun Night is on Friday, April 15, from 7:00-8:00 PM at the Plainfield Township Community Center, 15014 S. Des Plaines Street, Plainfield.
“Art of Inflation will be a fun finale for our kids and families as they watch colorful 4-foot long balloons twirl about and transform into works of art”,” says Misty Bartlett, Recreation Manager. The balloon show Art of Inflation is the brainchild of professional entertainer Dale Obrochta. The show twists comedy, music, and balloon twisting into creating two five-foot balloon sculptures on stage, and after the show, families are encouraged to come close and take a picture with the works of art.
The show’s highlight is a black light segment where the balloons glow, which is Obrochta’s favorite moment. “From my vantage point, all I see are these young faces glowing with excitement,” Obrochta states.
Obrochta has been performing since 1986 and has been a visual balloon interpreter for TEDxNaperville, appeared on WGN & WLS TV, and performed for numerous schools and libraries in Illinois and Indiana.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) created the annual WOCY celebration to celebrate young children and thank teachers and all those who make a difference in young children’s lives.
NAEYC’s directive is to improve all young children’s well-being through the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8.
