Keeping a Happy Appearance

I came across an article in the Los Angeles Times about Balloon Animals and Surgical Mask and it’s referring to how entertainers (s) help cheer people up in a time of need. As entertainers, we have to put ourselves into a happy place when entertaining. Things as simple as a balloon animal can make a kid’s face light up and forget their problems for that hour. If we can do that, then we’ve accomplished our job.

For the past few years, I have entertained at a Catholic Hospital, Little Company of Mary, for families who have lost a loved one. The event (Night of Remembrance) is a simple buffet-style dinner with balloon entertainment, music, and a small ceremony to remember the ones that have passed. I try not to think about what brought them together, but focus on how much fun there is in life. I think that is what entertainment should be about.
