James “Bizzaro” Robinson is not unfamiliar with the unusual. As an optical illusionist, based in Las Vegas, he pulls roses through his hand, gets attacked by snack foods and shoots fire out of his zipper. And he’s been making a living performing since he was 13, he said. (see his site at www.smappdooda.com )
Originally from Texas, he said, “I just wanted to get out of Dallas to work more. I‘ve been in Vegas about a year.”
His appearance list is extensive. In Vegas, he has appeared at the Harley-Davidson Café, the Palace Station Hotel & Casino, and Planet Hollywood Hotel & Casino, among other venues. Appearances in other states include the Tropicana Hotel in New Jersey; Theater West in Hollywood, CA; Nevins Live in Chicago; and The Lizard Lounge in Dallas, TX.
TV appearances include America’s Got Talent (NBC), 30 Seconds to Fame (FOX) and Extreme Conventions (Travel Channel). AGT called him to appear, but with Extreme Conventions he was at the right place at the right time.
Some entertainers consider going on such programs, however may think twice especially knowing they can get beeped off the stage in the middle of their performance and maybe even misrepresented. There is a risk involved as to what the performer will appear like.
“In my case, it’s hard to make me look silly. I got that covered all on my own,” Robinson said. “I think if you do your research and have performed in front of plenty of real people
